22 things to add to your pre-graduation bucket list

So you're a senior, and it's already early May! 😳 Sorry to refresh your memory about the fact that you are leaving soon. It all seems like yesterday that you were rushing through Harvard Yard trying to find our ways to classes.

Terrifying, I know!

With just less than a month until graduation, you might be scrambling to finish classes and extracurriculars, while creating and ticking off the mental list of things you’d want to do but put off until, well, now. But fear no more, I have finally come to your rescue with a written pre-graduation bucket list of things that I myself procrastinated on completing for the past 9 months of senior year.

Without further ado, here they are:

  1. Walk around the entire Harvard campus, from the Quad to the Science and Engineering Complex. Yes, that means no shuttling.

  2. Throw a themed party and invite both your close and new friends

  3. Skip an early morning class and enjoy the extra two hours of sleep.

  4. Go to a sporting event on campus and get a chance to win free perks.

  5. Day drink - one of your last chances to go all out as a college student.

  6. Go out with your friend squad and eat great food - make sure to go out for Sunday brunch or try an All-You-Can-Eat buffet at least once.

  7. Eat in all Harvard dining halls at least once or cook a meal with your close friends in the house's kitchen before graduation. Just don’t burn the house down!

  8. Binge-watch a show or series with friends in your dorm without leaving the comfort of your sheets and sofa.

  9. Take advantage of free museum passes around Harvard and Boston.

  10. Leave your mark on campus - whether it’d be peeing on the John Harvard statue, burying your A- exam in a time capsule in the Quad Lawn, or carving your name on a tree, you have plenty of options. Leave not only one but a few so when you come back for your 5-, 10-, or even 20-year reunion, you can trace back these marks with friends for great memories.

  11. Try something completely new and out of your comfort zone (skinny dipping in the Charles River, anyone?)

  12. Use your HUID to get every available student discount, aka tickets at a reduced price to many student art productions, Harvard merchandise at the Harvard shops, and food at restaurants around Harvard Square.

  13. Exhaust your BoardPlus money and the additional $11 that was given back to your HUID from the Undergraduate Council (rip, but thanks!)

  14. Enjoy Harvard’s view from above - go watch the ringing of Lowell's bell or befriend someone from the Astronomy club for access to the Observatory Deck on top of the Science Center.

  15. Take fashion risks - pulling out your first-year entryway fit and combining it with free Yardfest swag. College is a great place to take fashion risks and experiment with creative and over-the-top outfit ideas.

  16. Play intramural sports - earn your house that Straus Cup!

  17. Go bar hopping with your first-year roommate(s) or close friends

  18. Make a list of restaurants to explore a neighborhood: A list within a list. Yes, we love lists.

  19. Attend a wellness class (yoga, pilates, meditation) at studios around Harvard Square and Cambridge

  20. Explore a part of Boston you have never visited

  21. Rent a Zipcar and go on a spontaneous day trip with your roommates to run away from the reality of that last 10-page paper between you and your graduation.

  22. Take photos of all your lasts (of classes, HUDS meal, sleep, laundry, and college room) and document all the fun adventures you have with friends.

That’s all I have for now! I'm sure that with your big brain and senior energy, or the lack thereof, you will be able to come up with even more fun, unique things to do before ending this year strong. To all my friends in the class of 2022, 4/4 of our degree will be done loading in a few more days. We are almost there! Wishing you the best of luck in your future grand plans.

Peace & Love,

Huong
